Screen borked after updating ATI driver

Postby Ash on Sat Jan 03, 2009 8:51 pm

I have recently updated my graphic card to the newest driver. I haven't noticed any problems - until I started Eternal Eden. The screen is now totally garbled with black lines and whatnot, and this happens in fullscreen only, when the game is windowed the screen is okay. Help please?

what card do you use? I use an ati 4870 and had no issues with the game (catalyst 8.12).
in ATI Catalyst try set all 3d settings to "application controlled" (they wont matter in a 2d game anyway).

Could you post a screenie of the issue?

My card is ATI Radeon X550. I've rolled back my driver in Device Manager to previous version (8.522.0.0), and EE works okay again. The newer version is 8.561.0.0... I'll update to it again and take a picture. As for 3D settings, they are all already "application controlled".

UPDATE: I'm not able to take a screenie. All I get when I paste it in MS Photo Editor is black image.

Sounds like it's playing in overlay mode if all you get is a black box when you try to take a screenshot.

So... is there a way to prevent this overlay mode? Image

EDIT: What, nobody is up to this dreadful task? :D Oh well. I'll survive with older driver then.
